Event Description: Science and religion are often seen as rivals in terms of providing ultimate explanations of life and the universe. The focus of this exploratory conference is rather the interface between science and spiritual practice, exploring themes such as how scientists integrate spiritual practice into their lives, how science can confirm some of the experiential insights arising from spiritual practice, and more generally, how science and spiritual practice can be mutually supportive, questioning and illuminating. We have invited scientists with a spiritual practice and contemporary spiritual practitioners with an interest in science to come together to share their experiences and insights. Spiritual practice provides an anchor for activity in the world just as words arise out of silence. The speakers will introduce as well as talk about spiritual practices, and Friday evening will provide an experiential introduction to the conference. On the Saturday evening there will be a cultural programme, celebrating some of the conference themes through artistic expression and sharing.
